The environment

After more than two decades of action, we continually look for ways to reduce the environmental impacts of our own manufacturing operations minimizing both resources used and waste created; in benefit of the environment and the communities in which we operate.

  • We build in material savings techniques into our manufacturing process.
    • Before we start processing a piece of aluminum extrusion, we ensure that we is utilizing the most material from the tube, bar, or aluminum plate so that there is minimum waste. This may include combining multiple orders to get the best material savings.
    • We order optimized material lengths to ensure that we have the least possible waste.
    • We are continuously optimizing our production methods to reduce defects and scrap.
    • Any waste we have is properly recycled to care for the environment.
  • We also try to minimize our packaging in an effective and environmentally efficient way.
  • We minimize our wood consumption by recycling broken/ used/ and damaged pallets and even use broken pallets to make them into long and customized pallets.

The Community

TOMCAT believes in giving back to the community and making contributions to make it a stronger one. Some local organizations we collaborate with are the following:
  • Hispanic Cultural Center: Supporting their events throughout the year involving children's music workshops among other activities.
  • Midland Chamber of Commerce: Including guided tours of the factory such as the Midland Leadership group which includes prominent business leaders of the community.
  • Midland Community Theatre: Providing our annual sponsorship as an Elite Member, strengthening the talented group of actors of the second most important community theatre in the USA.
  • Petroleum Museum: Providing guided tours during the summer to the factory to children and teaching them about the business and the projects we have created for customers worldwide.
  • Rotary Group of Midland: Providing guided tours to the factory to international students and teaching them about the business and the projects we have created for customers worldwide.
  • Tall City Blues Fest: Supporting this local blues festival with TOMCAT volunteers that donate their time and energy to the success of the event.
  • United Blood Services: Conducting three blood drives at TOMCAT per year where our employees volunteer to donate blood and that way assuring a strong blood supply and ultimately saving lives
